Rebellion Completes Merger with Sapion... Becomes a 1 Trillion Won Unicorn Company
Launched Just Six Months After Announcement... AI Semiconductor Company with a Corporate Value of 1.3 Trillion KRW
Global Competitor in AI Semiconductor Industry
AI semiconductor startup Rebellion has completed the merger process with Sapeon Korea, reborn as a unicorn company with a corporate value exceeding 1 trillion KRW.
On the 2nd, Rebellion announced, "Six months after announcing the merger with Sapeon in June, we have officially launched under the name 'Rebellion,'" adding, "The merged corporation's corporate value has been evaluated at 1.3 trillion KRW, making it a leading AI semiconductor unicorn in South Korea."
This merger was carried out based on a consensus that achieving economies of scale and strengthening cooperation in the AI semiconductor sector is urgent. Through this, Rebellion has grown to a scale capable of global competition in terms of personnel, resources, and partnerships.
The merged corporation will be led solely by CEO Park Seong-hyun (pictured), who has been leading Rebellion. CEO Park holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science (CSAIL) from MIT and is an AI and system semiconductor expert with experience at Intel, SpaceX, and Morgan Stanley.
With the newly joined strategic investors through this merger, the company plans to expand its business areas. SK Telecom and SK Hynix, former shareholders of Sapeon, will support Rebellion's growth. In particular, SKT and Rebellion will join forces to enter the global AI data center market, and based on this, Rebellion plans to demonstrate tangible results in overseas markets such as the United States, Saudi Arabia, and Japan.
On the hardware side, Rebellion will strategically utilize the 'Chiplet' technology applied to its next-generation AI semiconductor 'REBEL' to proactively respond to the rapidly changing AI demand.
Over the next three months, Rebellion plans to focus on organizational integration. By combining the startup agility unique to Rebellion with Sapeon's solid system, the company aims to quickly respond to changes in the AI semiconductor market and strengthen capabilities to create new business opportunities.
