Uijeongbu City Temporarily Suspends Indoor Gymnasium Use for Citizen Safety
Next Year's Detailed Safety Inspection Plan for the Indoor Ice Rink at the Sports Complex and Howon Indoor Tennis Court
Uijeongbu City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kim Dong-geun) announced on the 29th that it will temporarily suspend the use of Uijeongbu Indoor Gymnasium for the safety of its citizens.
Earlier, the city conducted a detailed safety inspection of the Uijeongbu Indoor Gymnasium in accordance with the "Special Act on the Safety and Maintenance of Facilities" (hereinafter referred to as the Facility Safety Act), confirming sagging and strength deterioration in some roof structural members.
Accordingly, the city will temporarily suspend the use of the facility under Article 23 of the Facility Safety Act until corrective measures are completed, and plans to carry out detailed design and construction for repair and reinforcement in 2025.
Mayor Kim Dong-geun stated, "We have taken the suspension measure for the safety of our citizens," and added, "We will proceed with repairs and reinforcements quickly and thoroughly so that citizens can use the facility safely."

Meanwhile, the city plans to conduct detailed safety inspections next year on the "Indoor Ice Rink within the Comprehensive Sports Complex" and the "Howon Indoor Tennis Court" in accordance with the Facility Safety Act.
