Jang Sun-mi, the director of Jjangba Barbershop in Gumi-si, Gyeongbuk, elevated the prestige of Gumi-si by winning the grand prize at the 13th KBCA National Barber Skills Competition held on the 26th at the KT Daejeon Human Resources Development Center in Daejeon Metropolitan City.
Now in its 13th year, the National Barber Skills Competition is an event where about 300 players from the national barber industry compete in various categories such as creative cut and dry, barbershop, and gentleman style. It also serves as a platform for promoting the K-beauty industry and exchanging the latest trend information, making it the largest festival with 100,000 barbers participating.
Director Jang Sun-mi has been working in the beauty industry in Gumi for over 10 years and recently obtained a barber license, dedicating herself day and night to honing her skills. Based on her passion and expertise, she claimed the highest honor, the grand prize, among about 300 competitors nationwide at this competition.
The achievements of participants from the Gumi area also stood out in the student division. Park Byung-jin from Gumi University won the bronze prize, and Song Ye-rim from Dogae Middle School received the chairman’s award, proving the bright future of Gumi-si’s beauty industry.
