Mapo-gu (District Mayor Park Gang-su) has been selected as an excellent institution for the 'National Happiness Civil Service Office' designated by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety in 2024.
The 'National Happiness Civil Service Office' is a system in which the Ministry of the Interior and Safety comprehensively evaluates 25 items across four categories, including internal and external environments for civil petitioners and civil petition satisfaction, targeting local governments, education offices, and special local administrative agencies nationwide, to select excellent institutions.
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced 47 excellent institutions in October 2024 after a review process including document screening, on-site inspections, and experience evaluation satisfaction surveys.
Mapo-gu was selected as an excellent institution and will be granted the status of an excellent 'National Happiness Civil Service Office' for three years.
So far, Mapo-gu has actively promoted improvements to the civil service office environment and staff kindness training to meet residents' expectations and enhance the quality of civil service.
In particular, in May 2024, Mapo-gu installed the 'Hyochang-gu' and 'Hyodobel' exclusively for seniors aged 75 and over, implementing a one-stop civil service that allows seniors to receive immediate response and prompt processing when visiting administrative agencies to apply for civil petitions.
Additionally, to protect civil service officers in charge of civil petition work, Mapo-gu established the autonomous regulation Seoul Special City Mapo-gu Civil Petition Processing Officer Portable Protective Equipment Operation Guidelines and introduced protective equipment to create a system ensuring staff safety.
Furthermore, Mapo-gu operates considerate parking spaces (BPA) for transportation-vulnerable groups such as those accompanied by infants and pregnant women, and has installed a barrier-free queue waiting system to enable convenient use of the civil service office by people with disabilities and the elderly, receiving favorable reviews.
