Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation Hosts Lee Min-jung Solo Exhibition 'Gilsang Gapjin' at Currency Museum
The Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation announced on the 27th that it will hold a solo exhibition titled "Gilsang Gapjin" by artist Lee Min-jeong at the Currency Museum located in Yuseong-gu, Daejeon, until the 8th of next month.
"Gilsang Gapjin" carries the meaning of wishing for continued good energy and luck in the coming year, combining paintings filled with positive energy and the spirit of the Gapjin year dragon.
In the exhibition, the artist reinterprets traditional patterns such as the phoenix, peaches, and peonies found in the Joseon Dynasty's "Phoenix Gilsang Patterned Bojagi" in various patterns, and presents original works that evoke both traditional and modern beauty using only pigments on hanji paper.
In particular, ceramic works presented under the artist's brand "林塘 (Imdang, a small pond in the forest)" will be produced and sold as a series along with the paintings, with all proceeds from sales planned to be donated.
Previously, as a traditional color painting artist, Lee attracted attention by presenting works that reinterpreted portraits and artworks of Saimdang from a new perspective at last year's special exhibition "Saimdang's Garden" at the Currency Museum.
