Korea Tourism Organization Hosts '2024 Cultural Tourism Festival Conference'
Discussion on Strategies to Secure Global Competitiveness of Local Festivals
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced on the 21st that it will hold the "3rd Cultural Tourism Festival Conference" at the Jeju Maison Glad Hotel in collaboration with the Korea Tourism Organization.

Marking its third year, the conference was attended by over 120 participants including festival officials from local governments nationwide and related experts. The event was organized to promote the sustainable development of regional festivals and enhance their global competitiveness through sharing various festival cases.
On the first day, the 21st, Lien Peizhu, CEO of Taiwan's Popline Art Office, delivered the keynote speech on "Successful Cases of Overseas Festivals." On the following day, Yamamoto Yohei, CEO of Japan's Appare Co., Ltd., gave a lecture on the food culture and consumption characteristics of Japanese regional festivals.
Through this conference, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization plan to share the achievements of this year's cultural tourism festival support projects and announce next year's support plans. Additionally, practical lectures on solving regional issues using digital technology during festivals and utilizing big data analysis for festivals will be conducted. Furthermore, the progress of globally designated festivals such as the Incheon Pentaport Rock Festival, Suwon Hwaseong Cultural Festival, and Hwacheon Sancheoneo Ice Festival will also be shared.

Kim Kwangsik, head of the Regional Tourism Development Team at the Korea Tourism Organization, stated, "Through this year's cultural tourism festival support projects, we actively reflected improvements that meet public expectations, such as resolving overcharging issues at festival sites and preventing safety accidents." He added, "We will continue to strengthen systematic support to contribute to the sustainable development of regional festivals through projects that meet the public's expectations."
