View original imageThe Drone Wildfire Monitoring Team consists of 7 monitors selected from the Namulju Drone Volunteer Group, conducting wildfire surveillance using drones and promoting wildfire prevention activities.
The wildfire monitoring area covers forest regions around Hwasan-ri, Seosaeng-myeon, and Dongsang-ri, Onyang-eup in Ulju-gun. Every weekend, drones monitor for wildfire occurrences for one hour before sunset.
This area has a large forest area and is sparsely populated, so using drones makes it easy to check places that wildfire monitors find difficult to access. Especially, drones operate during the vulnerable monitoring times around sunset when trash burning or field burning is frequent, preventing wildfires in advance.
In addition to wildfire monitoring, the drones equipped with speakers will broadcast wildfire prevention messages, carrying out wildfire guidance activities together.
Ulju-gun will operate the Drone Wildfire Monitoring Team until mid-May next year and plans to expand the monitoring range after reviewing the operational effectiveness.
