"Driving Under the Influence Leads to Expulsion"... National Police Agency Strengthens Punishments for Major Misconduct
The National Police Agency announced on the 19th that the revised "Detailed Enforcement Rules for the Disciplinary Regulations of Police Officers," which significantly strengthen the disciplinary standards for major misconduct, have been approved by the National Police Commission.
Drug offenses, stalking crimes, and digital sex crimes are classified as separate categories and dealt with strictly. In particular, even the slightest drug-related case will result in at least dismissal, thereby unconditionally stripping the police officer of their status. Stalking crimes with high severity will be disciplined at the highest level.
The disciplinary standards for drunk driving have been significantly strengthened. If a police officer attends a drinking gathering with a vehicle and then drives under the influence, it is considered a preparatory act for drunk driving and will receive a harsher penalty. Obstructive behaviors such as refusal to take tests, fleeing, driver substitution, and drinking together will result in at least dismissal or higher disciplinary action.
