LS Mtron Wins First Design Presidential Award in Agricultural Machinery Industry with 'Tractor MT2'
Strategy Products for Targeting the North American Market
LS Group's industrial machinery and advanced components specialist, LS Mtron, announced on the 15th that its tractor MT2 won the Grand Prize, the Presidential Award, at the '2024 Good Design Award.' This is the first time a farming machinery product has received the Presidential Award in the industry.
The Good Design Award, hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and organized by the Korea Institute of Design Promotion, has been held annually since 1985. It is the most prestigious design certification system in Korea, awarding products with excellent design and competitiveness across various industries, from electronics and automobiles to fashion and digital content.
Previously, LS Mtron received ministerial awards four times for designs such as the Tractor Plus series and MT4 series.
The MT2, which won the Grand Prize this time, is a compact model with 25 to 40 horsepower, targeted at the North American market. The target consumer group is hobby farmers who engage in agriculture as a hobby or leisure activity.
The main design concepts of the MT2 are robustness and sturdiness, aiming to realize a drastic design. It was also designed based on ergonomic data to provide optimal convenience.
Park Sung-hee, head of LS Mtron's Tractor Business Division who led the MT2 design, said, "We focused on a design that enhances the tractor's inherent usability and functionality, not just a visually appealing design."
