124 Companies in Hwaseong Region Launch the 'Gyeonggi Climate and Environment Council'

View original imageThe 'Gyeonggi Climate and Environment Council,' composed of Gyeonggi-do, Hwaseong-si, and local companies, held its inauguration ceremony on the 12th at Himpel Co., Ltd. located in Annyeong-dong, Hwaseong-si. About 100 people attended the ceremony, including Kim Dong-yeon, Governor of Gyeonggi-do; Jeong Myeong-geun, Mayor of Hwaseong; Kwon Chil-seung, Member of the National Assembly from the Democratic Party; Kim Tae-hyung, Provincial Assembly member; Ahn Sang-gyo, Chairman of Hwaseong Chamber of Commerce and Industry; and Kang Geum-sil, Gyeonggi-do Climate Ambassador.
The council was established to promote voluntary eco-friendly activities by companies, such as preventing environmental pollution and practicing climate action. Founding members include Samsung Electronics Hwaseong Plant, Kia Autoland Hwaseong, Hyundai Motor Namyang Research Institute, and 124 other companies including small and medium-sized enterprises in the Hwaseong area.
The council will carry out activities such as technical cooperation, legal and institutional improvements, policy dissemination, and practical actions centered around its secretariat.

Jeong Myeong-geun, Mayor of Hwaseong-si, said, "With the launch of the council, the public and private sectors can proactively respond to the climate and environmental crisis together," adding, "The city will also create a safe and business-friendly environment through active support and policy implementation."
