Youth Romance 'Cheongseol' Tops Weekend with 160,000 Viewers... 'Gladiator 2' Leads Pre-Sales
Blockbuster 'Venom' Narrowly Takes 2nd Place
The youth romance film "Cheongseol," adapted from a popular Taiwanese movie, topped the box office during its opening weekend.
According to the Korea Film Council's integrated ticketing system, over the three days from the 8th to the 10th, "Cheongseol" (directed by Jo Seon-ho) attracted 168,549 viewers, securing the number one spot at the box office. It accounted for 26.9% of the total revenue share. The film tells the story of Yongjun (played by Hong Kyung), a man in his twenties who falls in love at first sight with Yeoreum (played by Newunseo), whom he meets at a swimming pool, and his straightforward pursuit of love. Since its release on the 6th, it has accumulated a total audience of 239,547.
The blockbuster film "Venom: Let There Be Carnage" (directed by Kelly Marcel) drew a similar number of 167,788 viewers, placing second. Its cumulative audience reached 1,580,492.
The comedy "Amazon Hwalmeongsu," starring Ryu Seung-ryong and directed by Kim Chang-joo, attracted 79,120 viewers, ranking third. Fourth place went to the American film "Red One" (30,210 viewers), and fifth was "Ordinary Family" (17,138 viewers). The total number of moviegoers over the weekend was 626,602.
