Gyeonggi-do Prepares Measures to Address Decrease in Local Allocation Tax
Gyeonggi Province has taken measures to respond to the decrease in local allocation tax.
On the 8th, Gyeonggi Province held the 8th Video Conference of Deputy Heads of Cities and Counties, chaired by Kim Seong-jung, the First Deputy Governor of Gyeonggi Province, at the Gyeonggi Provincial Government Office to discuss active response plans to the financial crisis caused by the reduction in local allocation tax.
At the meeting, Gyeonggi Province explained the Ministry of Economy and Finance’s fiscal measures, including the reduction of local allocation tax, and the province’s response plans, while sharing the response plans of each city and county to review current issues.
Gyeonggi Province also discussed cooperation measures between the province and cities/counties to expand renewable energy. The province requested cooperation on matters such as the prompt processing of permits related to renewable energy and the abolition of solar panel setback distance regulations, and actively encouraged participation in the renewable energy profit-sharing projects utilizing public land.

Kim Seong-jung, First Deputy Governor of Gyeonggi Province, stated, "Cooperation between the province and cities/counties is not optional but essential to overcome the climate crisis. Please make sure to address not only the discussed agenda but also the implementation of wildfire prevention measures in the fall season." He added, "Although the degree varies from large to small, most city and county finances are impacted. Please make efforts to improve the efficiency of fiscal expenditures and expand the tax revenue base so that these difficulties are not passed on to the residents."
