Amazon Considers Multi-Billion Dollar Investment in AI Startup Anthropic
Alphabet Announces $2 Billion Investment Last Year
Amazon, the world's largest e-commerce company, is reportedly discussing plans to invest billions of dollars more in the AI startup Anthropic.
According to local media reports on the 7th (local time), Anthropic is training AI models using Amazon's cloud services, and Amazon has requested Anthropic to use servers powered by semiconductors developed by Amazon.
Anthropic is said to prefer Amazon servers powered by AI chips designed by Nvidia.
Earlier, in September last year, Amazon announced it would invest up to $4 billion in Anthropic and stated that customers would be able to access Anthropic's technology early.
Anthropic, considered a rival to OpenAI, is a startup founded in 2021 by siblings Dario Amodei and Daniela Amodei, who were founding members of OpenAI. Alphabet, Google's parent company, also announced last year that it would invest $2 billion in Anthropic.
