Yongin City Requests Inclusion of 7 Railroads and Roads in Gyeonggi-do SOC Plan
'Gyeonggi Eastern SOC Grand Development Plan' Resident Briefing Held

Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province has requested the province to include seven key railway and road projects, such as the Gyeonggi Southern Metropolitan Railroad and the extension of the Gyeonggang Line from Gwangju to Namsa, as priority projects in the expansion of SOC in the eastern Gyeonggi region.
According to Yongin City on the 8th, the city announced this at a residents' briefing session on the 'Gyeonggi Eastern SOC Grand Development Plan' jointly held with Gyeonggi Province at Cheoin District Office on the 6th.

View original imageThe 'Gyeonggi Eastern SOC Grand Development Plan' is a plan prepared by the province in February to expand social overhead capital (SOC) and ease regulations for the development and maintenance of the eastern region. The plan includes an investment of 33.9 trillion KRW by 2040, with 16.2 trillion KRW for 18 road routes including the extension of Local Road No. 84 from Yongin to Yeoju, and 17.7 trillion KRW for 13 railway lines including the Metropolitan Express Railway (GTX) Line D in the metropolitan area.
At the briefing session, the city explained that it requested the province to reflect projects in three areas: roads, railways, and bicycle paths. The road projects requested by the city include ▲extension of Local Road No. 84 from Yongin to Yeoju ▲extension of Provincial Road No. 318 from Gomae to Idong. Railway projects include ▲Dongtan to Cheongju Airport ▲Semiconductor Line (Dongtan to Bubal) ▲extension of Bundang Line (Giheung to Osan) ▲Gyeonggi Southern Metropolitan Railroad (Sports Complex to Hwaseong Bongdam) ▲Gyeonggang Line (Gwangju to Namsa).
The city also explained a project plan to construct a bicycle path on the section of Provincial Road No. 318 from Duchanggyo to Cheongmigyio in Wonsam-myeon.
Earlier, since the announcement of the plan, Gyeonggi Province has been collecting suggestions from cities and counties through a consultative body and meetings. A city official said, "We proposed projects for balanced regional development at the meetings," adding, "We have requested support from Gyeonggi Province to concretize and implement these projects."

Gyeonggi Province plans to collect residents' opinions on the projects proposed by cities and counties by the end of this month and announce the final version of the plan next month.
