Online Walking Challenge 'Healthy Walking Campaign' for Pedestrian Day (11.11.) from Nov 11 for 2 Weeks, Participate via Mobile Walking App 'WalkOn'
3.2km Route from 'Salgoti Sports Park' Passing 'Salgoti Bridge' to 'Songjeong Embankment Road', 100 Participants Drawn for Mobile Gift Cards
Seongdong-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jeong Wono) announced that it will operate an online walking challenge, the 'Healthy Walking Campaign,' for two weeks starting November 11th to commemorate 'Pedestrian Day.'
'Pedestrian Day' is a national commemorative day designated to raise awareness of the importance of walking, which helps protect the environment and promote health. The date, November 11th, was chosen because the number 11 resembles a person's two legs and figure.
To celebrate 'Pedestrian Day,' the district will conduct an online healthy walking campaign from the 11th to the 25th to encourage residents to walk more in their daily lives. Anyone who is a resident of Seongdong-gu or lives within the Seongdong-gu area can participate by installing the mobile walking app 'WalkOn.'
The walking course is 3.2 km, starting from 'Salgoti Sports Park,' passing the nationally designated cultural asset 'Salgoti Bridge,' and ending at the autumn walking spot 'Songjeong Embankment Road.' One hundred participants will be selected by lottery to receive mobile gift certificates.
The district actively operates various walking programs and online walking challenges every year to promote a healthy walking culture, such as 'Active Senior Healthy Walking Education' and 'Walking Together Along the Waterway.'
Additionally, for residents in their 40s and 50s, the district provides health monitoring including basic medical tests, physical fitness measurements, and exercise counseling, as well as physical activity programs such as weekly walking course experiences within the area and fitness improvement classes.
