GH, Excelled in Reading Management... Awarded 'Grand Prize' for Outstanding Workplace by Ministry of the Interior and Safety
Gyeonggi Housing and Urban Corporation (GH) has been selected as an excellent workplace for reading management.
On the 8th, GH announced that it received the grand prize at the ‘2024 Excellent Workplace for Reading Management Certification’ ceremony held on the 7th, hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and organized by the Korea Competency Association Consulting.
The Excellent Workplace for Reading Management Certification system is a program in which the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism grants certification to organizations that contribute to spreading a reading culture within the workplace by operating reading programs. GH received the grand prize, the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Award, by achieving the highest evaluation among the companies that applied for the certification.
GH established a reading management system that uses reading as a systematic learning tool to enhance employees’ work competencies and humanities literacy based on both competency system and organizational culture perspectives.
From the competency system perspective, GH provides employees with a system that classifies and recommends books according to the organizational competency framework. It supports self-development and job learning by department based on the competency system, and operates activities such as selecting excellent book reviews and reading contests to share outstanding reading learning cases company-wide.

View original imageFrom the organizational culture perspective, GH supports reading clubs composed of various ranks and departments to promote communication between departments and generations. In particular, for new employees, GH helps them naturally acquire a learning culture through books by engaging in activities such as reading and sharing thoughts during onboarding education and mentoring processes.
The number of books read per GH employee increased by 80%, from 3.1 books in 2023 to 5.6 books as of the end of October this year. Additionally, 158 employees (43%) who did not participate in reading activities last year started reading this year, joining in competency development through reading.
GH plans to donate the books and cultural gift certificates won as prizes to the local community and will strive to spread the reading culture to the region by preparing programs such as ‘Author Special Lectures Open to Residents.’
