Safety Meets AI… POSCO Pohang Steelworks Establishes 'Safety System Reflecting On-Site Voices'
Strengthening Steel Mill Safety Culture Through Cutting Tools and Safety Devices Exhibition
POSCO Pohang Steelworks held a jig and safety device exhibition over five days from the 28th of last month to the 1st, showcasing safety devices directly discovered and developed by employees on site.

A total of 41 entries were exhibited, categorized into ▲small jigs ▲large collaborative operation devices ▲new technology inspection tools ▲safety and environment improvement parts.
From small-scale jigs such as safety jigs for high-altitude work and safety stoppers for crane inspections to large devices like limestone foreign substance removal equipment, various devices designed to enhance work safety and efficiency were devised.
In the new technology inspection tools section, devices utilizing technologies such as VR, robots, and drones were displayed, including a motion amplification camera that captures and amplifies even the slightest movements and a multi-jointed robot for work. These AI-based new technology devices were introduced through collaboration with the POSCO Research Institute.
Additionally, in the safety and environment improvement section, devices such as workstations that ensure worker safety during assembly and replacement tasks and inverter heavy object replacement equipment were exhibited, identifying potential hazards that may occur during maintenance work.
Cheon Si-yeol, head of Pohang Steelworks, stated, “This exhibition is an activity to create a safe working environment based on employees' voluntary participation, and we will spare no support to expand the steelworks' unique safety culture to our partner companies.”
