The meeting was organized to check the winter preparedness measures being implemented by each department based on a comprehensive report from the Disaster Safety Division, and to discuss additional countermeasures considering the possibility of various disasters caused by recent abnormal climate conditions.
As winter measures, the city plans to establish a 24-hour disaster situation management system for immediate response, organize a Disaster Safety Countermeasures Headquarters to operate proactive situation assessment meetings, and strengthen inspection and management of snow removal-vulnerable structures and areas. They will also secure snow removal materials (11,044 tons) and equipment (358 units), and maintain nine snow removal forward bases as part of preemptive measures to minimize citizen damage.
Mayor Bang Se-hwan stated, “In preparation for winter natural disasters, each department must prioritize citizen safety and be ready to respond immediately to all situations. Cooperation among departments is crucial, and I ask for more meticulous and thorough preemptive preparations so that we can utilize all available resources to ensure a safe winter.”
