View original imageChef Choi Hyun-seok, who appeared on the Netflix hit variety show "Black and White Chef: Culinary Class War" (hereafter "Black and White Chef"), clarified rumors of a feud with judge Ahn Seong-jae.
Chef Choi appeared as a guest on MBC's "Radio Star" broadcast on the 30th and revealed behind-the-scenes stories of "Black and White Chef." Referring to the "Jang Trio" (doenjang, gochujang, soy sauce) dishes he presented on the show, he said, "There is intention behind the composition and ingredients, but some chefs try not to see the intention." Then, MC Kim Gu-ra asked, "Are you talking about judge Chef Ahn Seong-jae? Is there a lot of built-up tension?" to which Chef Choi replied, "No, there isn't. We get along well."
When Kim Guk-jin asked when he first met Chef Ahn, he answered, "About 10 years ago, on a program called 'Olive Show,' I met him as a senior chef and evaluated his cooking," adding jokingly, "I like his cooking, but he doesn't like mine." He continued, "Since Chef Ahn is a Michelin 3-star chef, he pursues perfection, whereas I am the type who constantly changes menus and takes on challenges," and revealed, "We once talked about that for over an hour." He also dismissed the feud rumors by saying, "Not long ago, at a cooking event that has been held for about 20 years, I met Chef Ahn, and as soon as he saw me, he bowed 90 degrees, held my hand, and apologized." He added, "I joked with him, saying, 'What do you have to be sorry for? It's because you dislike my cooking that we get along well.' There is a group chat for chefs who play golf, and Chef Ahn is in it too. We are really close."
