Paju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kim Kyung-il) announced on the 29th that it held a residents' briefing session on the 'Gyeonggi Western Region Social Overhead Capital (SOC) Grand Development Plan' at the Paju Stadium conference room on the 28th.
The 'Gyeonggi Western Region Social Overhead Capital (SOC) Grand Development Plan' is a plan led by Gyeonggi Province to expand social overhead capital (SOC) such as roads and railways to develop the western region of Gyeonggi, which has been neglected in terms of administrative and financial resources due to development focused on the Gyeongbu axis, despite its proximity to Seoul. The western Gyeonggi area includes seven regions: Paju, Ansan, Siheung, Hwaseong, Pyeongtaek, Anseong, and Gimpo.
Governor Kim Dong-yeon of Gyeonggi Province has been gathering suggestions through relay meetings and consultative body meetings with each city and county since declaring February as the 'First Year of the Gyeonggi Western Region Social Overhead Capital (SOC) Grand Development.'
Paju City held a meeting on April 25th to propose projects for balanced regional development such as roads, railways, and development projects, and has been making efforts to ensure the successful promotion of the SOC grand development plan by consulting multiple times with related departments to reflect these projects.
On the 28th, a residents' briefing session was held to explain the background of the Gyeonggi Western Region SOC grand development promotion, future plans, and 19 proposed projects from Paju City. About 30 resident representatives attended and presented various opinions.
