Nonsan City in South Chungcheong Province announced on the 29th that it has finalized 226 participatory budget projects for next year, totaling 2.4 billion KRW, through the Residents’ Participatory Budget Committee.
The committee selected the projects after reviewing the feasibility and potential for implementation of 397 proposed projects.
The participatory budget projects include the installation of automatic insect repellent spray devices at cultural heritage sites in Noseong-myeon, the installation of a smoking booth at the enlistment examination center in Yeonmu-eup, and the installation of fire extinguishers in alleyways in Ganggyeong-eup.
Youth-proposed projects such as a mobile pet adoption promotion center, the installation of colored driving guide lines, and a Yeonmu-eup youth residents’ council community problem-solving project were also included.
These projects will be incorporated into the 2025 main budget after approval by the Nonsan City Council.
Mayor Baek Seonghyeon stated, “Through the active participation of citizens in the 2025 participatory budget projects, we were able to confirm the heightened civic awareness and interest in municipal affairs,” adding, “We will continue to reflect residents’ voices in city administration and do our best to implement policies that satisfy our citizens.”
