Cheolma-myeon Administrative Welfare Center in Gijang-gun (Chief Jo Jeong-im) recently announced on the 28th that it has promoted the social network formation support project for socially isolated households in Cheolma-myeon called ‘Kkot, Inyeon’ (Flower, Connection).
This program was prepared to form social networks among isolated households in Cheolma-myeon and to alleviate feelings of social isolation.
From the 22nd to the 23rd, the program was conducted at Gochon Anpyeong Village Welfare Center for 20 single-person households, under the guidance of professional instructors, with activities aimed at improving life skills such as ▲making flower-scented soap and ▲making personalized flowerpots for emotional support.
Ten members of the Cheolma-myeon Community Security Council and honorary social welfare officers participated as ‘Village Care Leaders’ in the program, helping single-person households form social networks and relieve feelings of isolation, while spending meaningful time together with neighbors.
A resident who participated in the program expressed satisfaction, saying, “At over eighty years old, my friends have all left, and living alone made me feel depressed and lonely, but participating in this program allowed me to meet neighbors and made me grateful to be called upon and to realize that I can still do something at this age.”
