11 Minor Injuries in 8-Car Pileup on Gocheok Bridge, Guro-gu... Driver Claims Sudden Acceleration
At 12:12 PM on the 26th, a chain collision involving eight vehicles, including one city bus traveling toward Guro Station on Subway Line 1 and seven passenger cars, occurred on Gocheok Bridge in Guro-dong, Guro-gu, Seoul.
As a result of the accident, 11 people, including the driver and bus passengers, sustained minor injuries and are receiving treatment at a hospital.
The police believe that a passenger car driven by a woman in her 70s went straight through a section where only right turns were allowed, colliding with other passenger cars and the bus.
The driver reportedly claimed sudden unintended acceleration during the police investigation.
Meanwhile, Guro-gu issued a disaster alert message stating, "Traffic conditions are very congested due to the collision accident," and advised drivers to detour around the accident site.
