Israel Conducts Retaliatory Airstrikes on Iran... "Explosions Heard in Capital Tehran and Other Areas"
Teheran, Multiple Loud Explosions in Nearby Karaj
Israel has launched retaliatory airstrikes in response to missile attacks from Iran, U.S. online media Axios reported on the 26th (local time).
The outlet cited two officials saying, "Israel has initiated retaliatory airstrikes against Iran."
Earlier, Iranian state TV and semi-official media reported hearing several large explosions in Tehran and the nearby city of Karaj.
Israel's retaliation against Iran came 25 days after the initial attack. On the 1st, Iran fired approximately 200 ballistic missiles at Israel, claiming it was in retaliation for the killing of Ismail Haniyeh, leader of the Palestinian armed group Hamas, and Hassan Nasrallah, leader of the Lebanese armed group Hezbollah.
Israel confirmed its policy of counterattacking Iran and had been deliberating the timing and method of further retaliation.
