Lumpy Skin Disease Confirmed at Hanwoo Farm in Dangjin... Movement Ban Ordered in Four Cities and Counties
Lumpy skin disease has occurred at a Hanwoo cattle farm in Dangjin, Chungnam.
According to Chungnam Province on the 25th, skin nodules were found on cattle raised at a Hanwoo farm in Dangjin, and the Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency's detailed examination confirmed a positive result.
This is the first case in Chungnam this year, coming just five days after the outbreak was reported in Sangju, North Gyeongsang Province, on the 19th.
The quarantine authorities have restricted access to the farm and decided to cull the confirmed positive animals.
Clinical examinations and enhanced cleaning and disinfection have been carried out at 87 cattle farms within a 5 km radius of the affected farm, as well as at 83 cattle farms with epidemiological links to the outbreak.
A temporary movement ban was issued for 48 hours starting at 7 a.m. on this day in four cities and counties: Dangjin, Yesan, Seosan, and Asan.
Lee Deokmin, Director of the Provincial Department of Agriculture and Livestock, said, "Despite thorough preventive measures such as vaccination, lumpy skin disease has recurred following last year. We will carefully review the vaccination status at farms to prevent further spread within the province."
