Yonsei University 'Essay Question Leak'... First Trial on the 29th
The preliminary injunction trial to suspend the effectiveness of the essay screening, filed by test-takers and parents regarding the suspicion that Yonsei University's early admission essay exam questions were leaked in advance, will be held on the 29th.
Kim Jeong-seon, a lawyer from Ilwon Law Office representing the plaintiffs, announced on the 24th, "The first trial for the preliminary injunction to suspend the effectiveness of Yonsei University's essay screening will be held at 5 p.m. on the 29th at the Seoul Western District Court."
On the 21st, a total of 18 people, including test-takers and parents, electronically filed a class-action lawsuit against Yonsei University at the Seoul Western District Court, requesting the invalidation of the essay exam. They also filed a preliminary injunction to suspend the effectiveness of the essay screening.
In a statement, Lawyer Kim pointed out, "The exam questions were leaked in advance, causing fairness issues among test-takers and severely infringing on fairness." He added, "If this situation is overlooked, it will set a precedent that all universities can negligently conduct entrance exams without any consequences."

Yonsei University conducted the essay exam on the 12th at its Sinchon Campus in Seodaemun-gu, Seoul. The exam was scheduled to be held for 90 minutes from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. that day, but a proctor who misunderstood the start time distributed the exam papers about an hour early. Although the proctor later realized the mistake and collected the exam papers, the questions were circulated through online communities, sparking controversy.
