Formation of the 4-Character Integrated Promotion Team
Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education Superintendent Kang Eun-hee expressed a welcoming stance on the announcement of the Daegu-Gyeongbuk administrative integration agreement on the 21st, stating that they will steadily prepare for the integration of the Daegu and Gyeongbuk Offices of Education in line with the administrative integration schedule.
Superintendent Kang Eun-hee said, “We empathize with the necessity of Daegu-Gyeongbuk administrative integration to respond to the unbalanced education and economic environment centered on the metropolitan area and the crisis of local extinction due to population decline, as well as to foster sustainable future talents through regional balanced development and national progress.”
Since there are still procedures to go through, such as government consultations, consent from city and provincial councils, submission of special bills, and approval from the National Assembly until the completion of the Daegu-Gyeongbuk administrative integration, it is necessary to form a four-party integration promotion team with Daegu City, Gyeongsangbuk-do Province, and the Gyeongsangbuk-do Office of Education to organically promote discussions related to the integration.

Superintendent Kang pointed out that “given that the integrated Daegu-Gyeongbuk Special City will have an area 1.9 times that of Gyeonggi Province and that rapid changes in the educational environment are expected, broader consultations are needed more than ever,” adding, “We will establish a close cooperative system with the Gyeongbuk Office of Education to exchange mutual opinions and gather feedback from education stakeholders, deeply discuss the direction of education and the establishment of administrative organizations in the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Special City, and make every effort to minimize confusion in the educational field.”
