Pocheon City Strives to Attract GTX-G Line... Launch Ceremony of Promotion Committee Held
Pocheon City held the "GTX Pocheon Attraction Promotion Committee Launch Ceremony" on the 23rd at the Pocheon Business Center Convention Hall to attract the GTX-G line.
Pocheon City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Baek Young-hyun) announced on the 24th that it successfully held the “GTX Pocheon Attraction Promotion Committee Launch Ceremony” on the 23rd at the Pocheon Business Center Convention Hall to attract the GTX-G line.
The launch ceremony was attended by about 200 people, including Baek Young-hyun, Mayor of Pocheon, Oh Moo-seok, Deputy Governor for Administration of Gyeonggi Province, Park Jae-young, Director of the Gyeonggi Province Railroad, Port and Logistics Bureau, members of the Pocheon City Council and Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly, and members of the GTX Pocheon Attraction Promotion Committee.
At the event, Park Kyung-chul, Head of the Mobility Research Office at the Gyeonggi Research Institute, gave a keynote presentation on the basic plan for the GTX Plus line, followed by a commemorative speech by the Promotion Committee Chairperson, and congratulatory remarks by the Deputy Governor for Administration of Gyeonggi Province and the Mayor of Pocheon.
The GTX Pocheon Attraction Promotion Committee was formed as the first step to attract GTX to Pocheon, consisting mainly of local businesspeople, citizen representatives, and heads of institutions and organizations to express their determination to attract the line.
The GTX-G line is a 84.7 km metropolitan express railway connecting Songwoo in Soheul-eup, Pocheon, to Dongui-jeongbu, Guri, Nonhyeon, Sadang, Gwangmyeong (KTX), and Sungui in Nam-gu, Incheon. The total project cost is approximately 7.679 trillion KRW. Once completed, travel time from Pocheon to Gangnam Nonhyeon Station will be 25 minutes, and to Gwangmyeong Station (KTX) will be within 35 minutes.
Going forward, the Promotion Committee plans to visit related agencies such as the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport to ensure the GTX-G line is included in the 5th National Railroad Network Construction Plan, and will strive to develop Pocheon’s regional growth and transportation infrastructure through various activities including hosting railroad and transportation seminars.
Mayor Baek Young-hyun of Pocheon said, “To emphasize the necessity of attracting railroads for balanced regional development and to publicly declare the region’s determination, a Promotion Committee representing 140,000 citizens has been formed. I am confident that if the GTX-G line is introduced and travel times from Pocheon to central Seoul and the southwestern and western metropolitan areas are drastically reduced, unlimited economic development such as population growth, business attraction, and tourism revitalization in Pocheon will be possible.”
Meanwhile, the GTX Plus line, unveiled by Gyeonggi Province in April, is a plan aimed at connecting areas not benefiting from GTX to create an average 30-minute living zone throughout the metropolitan area.
