View original imageGyeonggi Province has revamped the online memorial hall "10·29 Disaster 2nd Anniversary Online Memory Space," which has been continuously operated since the time of the disaster, to mark the 2nd anniversary of the October 29 disaster.
The most notable feature of this renovation is the enhancement of the "record" function to prevent the recurrence of such disasters. It was prepared to organize and document the events that occurred during the disaster by time, aiming to prevent another disaster from repeating.
First, in the "Record of That Day" section, visitors can review the timeline of events from the initial police report on the day of the disaster to the transportation of the seriously injured and victims.
In the "Stories of That Day to Remember" corner, a space has been created to empathize with and remember the lives of the four victims and one survivor, the pain of the disaster, and the suffering of those who survived.
The online memorial hall can be accessed by clicking the "Memory and Solidarity" icon on the Gyeonggi Provincial Government website (www.gg.go.kr). Not only residents of the province but all citizens can write condolence letters to the victims with heartfelt sentiments.
Lee Won-il, Director of Public Relations Planning for Gyeonggi Province, said, "We created this space to gather the 'power of memory' so that the disaster is not forgotten and remembered, and to prevent another disaster from recurring," adding, "We hope the online memory space will contribute to forming a national consensus for uncovering the truth of the 10·29 disaster."
