Gyeonggi Namyangju City (Mayor Joo Gwang-deok) announced on the 22nd that the 'Tap Dance Festa' held on the 20th in celebration of October as the Month of Culture was successfully concluded.

The Month of Culture was established in 1973 to raise the public's cultural awareness and understanding and to encourage participation in cultural activities. To commemorate this, Namyangju City held the 'Tap Dance Festa' performance at Lee Seok-young Square (946 Gyeongchun-ro, Namyangju City).

The event brought great joy not only to local residents but also to families out for a weekend outing.

About 30 professional tap dancers from 15 groups active nationwide participated in this performance, showcasing non-verbal performances that highlighted the unique characteristics of each group. Additionally, jugglers Park Jong-in and Kwon Bong-ju joined to provide even richer entertainment.

In particular, during the 'Find the Lightning Bug' segment, an event was held where children audience members who wore pedometers on their legs and achieved the highest pedometer count within one minute were gifted tap shoes. There was also a segment teaching basic tap dance steps with the audience, adding to the fun of the performance.

Citizens enjoyed the performance to the lively tap dance rhythms along with the autumn breeze, responding with applause.

One audience member said, "Through today's performance, I was able to learn tap dance and have a unique experience," adding, "I hope such cultural performances that anyone, regardless of age or gender, can enjoy continue steadily."

A city official stated, "We hope the Tap Dance Festa remains a joyful memory for citizens," and added, "We will continue to strive to create a cultural environment that everyone can enjoy. We ask for the citizens' great interest and participation."
