Korea-Kazakhstan Agree to Expand Cooperation in 'Power, Plant, and Supply Chain'

The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy announced that Minister Andukgeun met with Almasadam Satkaliev, Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan, at the Government Complex Sejong on the 22nd to discuss cooperation measures in the energy sector between the two countries.
This meeting was the first encounter between the energy ministers of the two countries since the Korea-Kazakhstan summit held in Astana, Kazakhstan on June 12. It was arranged to review the outcomes of the summit in the energy sector and discuss prompt implementation measures.
An official from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy explained, "On this day, both countries shared the recognition that the recent official visit was a groundbreaking opportunity to strengthen exchanges and cooperation in the energy sector," adding, "In particular, based on the 'Power Industry Cooperation Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)' signed between the two countries, we discussed ways to expand cooperation with Korea in Kazakhstan’s power policy implementation, including power plant environmental facility improvement projects, combined cycle power plant construction, and renewable energy expansion."
Furthermore, they agreed to carry out follow-up measures without delay on the summit outcomes beyond the energy sector, such as establishing a partnership for critical mineral supply chains and expanding industrial and energy official development assistance (ODA).

Meanwhile, Minister Andukgeun requested the participation of Korean companies in Kazakhstan’s ongoing energy plant projects, including gas processing plants, and introduced the Korean government’s Carbon-Free Energy (CFE) initiative aimed at effectively promoting carbon neutrality using various CFE sources, seeking Kazakhstan’s interest and support for its spread in the international community.
