Paju City and Clearing Take Responsibility for a Safe Daily Life Free from Prostitution
Campaign to Eradicate Prostitution Held at Paju Gaeseong Ginseng Festival
Paju City is conducting a "Sex Trade Reflection Citizen Activity Clearing" and a "Sex Trade Eradication and Prevention Campaign" to create a gender-equal, women-friendly city of Paju at the Paju Kaesong Ginseng Festival held on the 19th and 20th.
Gyeonggi Paju City (Mayor Kim Kyung-il) announced on the 21st that it conducted a ‘Campaign to Eradicate and Prevent Prostitution’ to create a gender-equal, women-friendly city of Paju in collaboration with the ‘Anti-Prostitution Citizen Activity Group Clearing’ during the Paju Kaesong Ginseng Festival held on the 19th and 20th.
Clearing, the Anti-Prostitution Citizen Activity Group officially launched in April in support of the closure of prostitution districts, is engaged in activities to eradicate prostitution, restore the human rights of prostitution victims, and guarantee children’s rights to education and housing. They conduct monthly campaigns to eradicate and prevent prostitution.
About 40 members of Clearing participated in this campaign, which featured various experiential activities such as ‘Tree, Grant My Wish’ to restore women’s rights and create a women-friendly city of Paju through the closure of prostitution districts, a photo zone called ‘Click, One Shot’ for prostitution eradication, and a ‘Gender Violence Prevention Quiz’.
A citizen who participated in the campaign said, “Seeing many citizens continuously participate and work together, I expect the closure of the prostitution districts soon,” and added, “I will always take an interest in and support activities for a safe Paju and the eradication of prostitution.”
