View original imageThe "2024 Dangjin Port Policy Seminar" was held on the 18th at the Seorak Convention Beach Hall in Dangjin City to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the designation of Dangjin Port and to explore future development strategies for the port.
The Dangjin Port Policy Seminar is held annually with the aim of providing grounds for reflecting port-related national master plans and creating a regular forum for discussion among government, private sector, and academia, thereby contributing to the revitalization of Dangjin Port.
Hosted by Dangjin City and organized by the Korea Port Economics Association, the seminar was attended by over 100 people, including Mayor Oh Seonghwan, Council Chair Seo Younghun, officials from the Pyeongtaek Regional Office of Oceans and Fisheries, Chungnam Provincial Government, Pyeongtaek Maritime Police, Korea East-West Power Co., Ltd., as well as related organizations and port industry stakeholders.
The policy seminar was conducted in the order of keynote presentations, designated discussions, and general discussions, with Kim Hyundeok, President of the Korea Port Economics Association, serving as the moderator.

View original imageThe keynote presentations included "Feasibility Study on the Construction of the Seokmun New Port General Cargo Pier" by Professor Kim Hwayoung of Mokpo National Maritime University, followed by "Analysis of Development Strategies through Cargo Volume Analysis at Dangjin Port" by Park Sangguk, CEO of Logistics System Research Institute.
Panelists included 13 professors from the Korea Port Economics Association, Yoon Byungsang, Head of the Port Planning Team at Chungnam Provincial Government, Ki Hoyeon, Head of the Port Policy Team at Dangjin City, and Lee Byungseong from the Dangjin Marine Development Council. They offered diverse opinions on topics such as future development strategies for Dangjin Port, identifying demand for pier development based on cargo volume analysis, and measures to vitalize Dangjin Port from a governance perspective.
Meanwhile, the Korea Port Economics Association is an organization composed of professors and experts in the domestic port and logistics sector, conducting academic research on port economics, studies and surveys on port logistics, and hosting research presentations and lectures.
