A man who deceived people by claiming to sell tickets and goods on online secondhand trading sites and embezzled tens of millions of won was sentenced to prison.
On the 19th, Judge Jeong Seong-hwa of the Criminal Division 11 at the Seoul Southern District Court announced that he sentenced Mr. A (27), who was tried on charges of fraud, to four years in prison and ordered him to pay the embezzled money to each claimant.
Around November of last year, Mr. A posted ads on online secondhand trading sites claiming to sell tickets and various goods, and lied to victims who contacted him by saying, "If you deposit the money first, I will send it by courier." Using this method, Mr. A embezzled a total of 82,910,500 won from 182 victims between October 29 of last year and May 19 of this year.

The court stated, "The defendant used 15 mobile phones to carry out the crime in a planned and meticulous manner over a long period, there are many victims, and the scale of the embezzlement is also large. The defendant continued the crime while periodically moving his residence despite knowing that he was wanted, and squandered the proceeds of the crime on gambling. The circumstances of the crime and the situation after the crime are also unfavorable."
