Hawaii Consulate General Staff Arrested on Charges of Illegal Filming in Women's Restroom
Local Court Raises Bail to $100,000
An employee of the U.S. Consulate General in Honolulu, Hawaii, was arrested by local police on charges of installing and filming with an illegal camera in the women's restroom.
The office of Lee Jae-gang, a member of the National Assembly's Foreign Affairs and Unification Committee from the Democratic Party of Korea, announced on the 17th that consulate employee A was arrested on the 4th (local time) for installing an illegal camera in the women's restroom within the consulate and filming fellow employees.
It is reported that A illegally filmed fellow employees at the time of the incident. He is known to have committed the crime by placing a mobile phone inside a small black box with a tiny hole and leaving it inside the restroom.
Initially, A attempted to post bail for release, but the local court raised the bail amount from $15,000 (approximately 20.58 million KRW) to $100,000 (approximately 137.25 million KRW) considering the seriousness of the crime.
