Hankyung Research Institute Hosts Seminar on Low Birthrate and Aging Solutions with Domestic and International Experts

The Korea Economic Association announced on the 17th that its affiliate organization, the Korea Economic Research Institute, will hold a seminar titled "The Impact and Solutions of Low Birthrate and Aging as Viewed by Domestic and International Scholars" at 2 p.m. on the 22nd at the FKI Tower in Yeouido, Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul.

View original imageSponsored by the Presidential Committee on Ageing Society and Population Policy, the seminar is planned to provide a forum for sharing international experiences and finding solutions tailored to Korea's situation to address the issues of low birthrate and aging.
After presentations by four speakers, a panel discussion will take place. First, Dr. Nicholas Eberstadt from the American Enterprise Institute will deliver the keynote speech on the global population decline trend.
Professors Stuart Gietel-Basten from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Dr. Thomas Sobotka from the Vienna Institute of Demography, and Prof. Lee Cheol-hee from Seoul National University will present on their respective topics.
In the panel discussion, Jeong Cheol, the Chief Research Officer of the Korea Economic Association and Director of the Korea Economic Research Institute, will serve as the moderator. Participants include Lee In-sil, Director of the Korea Future Population Institute, Heo Jae-jun, President of the Korea Labor Institute, and Professor Bernard Hoekman from the European University Institute. They will exchange diverse opinions on innovating population policies to solve the low birthrate and aging issues.
