Gangwon-do Yeongwol-gun '2024 Yeongwol Cultural Heritage Night Tour Event' Held on 19-20

Yeongwol-gun, Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province (Governor Choi Myeong-seo) announced on the 17th that the '2024 Yeongwol Cultural Heritage Night Tour' will be held for two days starting from the 19th as part of the 2024 Cultural Heritage Utilization Project. The '2024 Yeongwol Cultural Heritage Night Tour' is a contest project sponsored by the National Heritage Agency and Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province, conducted in collaboration with the Yeongwol Cultural Center.
The Yeongwol Cultural Heritage Night Tour will take place for two days on the 19th (Saturday) and 20th (Sunday) from 5 PM to 10 PM. This event is created by local artists leading regional culture participating in cultural heritage spaces that form the foundation of local culture, offering unique experiences along with lighting that brightens the nights of Yeongwol.
The program includes a pre-event performance featuring a street parade, traditional mask dance, and calligraphy performance (performance art), followed by performances such as Namsadang Pungmul troupe, B-boy dance battles, tightrope walking, and local artists’ shows that highlight Yeongwol’s history and cultural identity.

Additionally, there will be exhibitions displaying graphic panels of Woljungdo and old photographs of Yeongwol, a full moon observation experience, a history quiz golden bell, folk painting, personalized fragrance making, and LED wish lantern hanging activities. A food area will also be operated to provide visitors with precious memories alongside cultural heritage.
Jung Dae-gwon, Director of Culture and Tourism of Yeongwol-gun, stated, “Through this event, we aim to enhance understanding and interest in the region’s cultural heritage and develop it into an attractive nighttime cultural event program for external tourists.”
