Minister Oh Young-joo of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups Emphasizes Collaboration Between Technopark and Regional Headquarters of the Korea SMEs and Startups Agency
Attendance at the ‘Technopark Performance Presentation and Meeting’ on the 17th
The Ministry of SMEs and Startups announced that Minister Oh Young-joo attended the 'Technopark Performance Presentation and Meeting' held on the 17th at Wyndham Grand Busan. The Technopark (TP) Performance Presentation has been held annually since 2003 to share the achievements of the 19 regional TPs responsible for fostering local SMEs and to discuss future regional experience-based policy implementation plans.
In particular, at this event, to strengthen the solidarity in fostering local companies, 17 regional heads of the Korea SMEs and Startups Agency (KOSME) also attended and held a meeting chaired by Minister Oh Young-joo to discuss collaboration plans between TP and KOSME. In a special lecture, Minister Oh emphasized, “TP and KOSME must move beyond the role of a ‘pipeline’ that merely delivers allocated budgets to companies and become a ‘platform’ that finds the services companies truly need and connects them with regional innovation resources.”

View original imageDuring the meeting, exemplary cases of collaboration between TP and KOSME were shared, and the progress of the Legend 50+ project launched this year as well as the direction for next year were discussed. A KOSME official introduced the 'Daegu New Growth Future Industry Promotion Project' case, which achieved results through cooperation with regional innovation institutions including TP, stating that if KOSME, equipped with various policy tools, strengthens cooperation with TP, the synergy of policies that local SMEs can feel will be significantly enhanced.

Minister Oh stated, “The fragmented and supplier-centered support methods of past support agencies will not be able to drive the innovative growth of local SMEs,” and “I urge the 19 regional Technoparks and 17 KOSME regional headquarters to mutually collaborate to strengthen practical support that can be felt locally and to discover many exemplary cases leading regional innovation.”
