"Great Letters That Lead: Hangeul" ... Gimhae Hangeul Culture Park Reopens for Hangeul Day
Hangul Culture Park in Gimhae, Gyeongnam has been newly renovated to commemorate the 578th Hangul Day.
The old clay flooring has been replaced with a permeable material, and the new surface features engravings of Ju Sigyeong, an independence activist and Hangul scholar, as well as the phrase "the greatest script"?the meaning of Hangul as defined by members of the National Language Research Society. The face of King Sejong, who created Hunminjeongeum, along with various consonants and vowels, are also engraved.

In the children's playground, the pure Korean word "Raon," meaning "joyful," is inscribed, and a photo spot decorated with Hunminjeongeum-themed lighting has been set up. Benches, sunshades, and stone sculptures engraved with Korean words have also been installed throughout the park.
Mayor Hong Taeyong said, "We will allow more children to use Tteumdongsan and actively promote the newly renovated Hangul Culture Park so that many citizens can visit comfortably and learn about the excellence of Hangul."
