Goyang-si Conducts Elevator Accident Response Drill in 2024
'Elevator Smart Control Platform' Automatically Detects Accidents with IoT Technology... Enables Rapid Response
Lee Dong-hwan, Mayor of Goyang Special City, is delivering a greeting during an accident and malfunction response drill using the 'Elevator Smart Control Platform' at KINTEX Exhibition Hall 2 on the 7th.
Goyang Special City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Dong-hwan) announced on the 8th that it conducted an accident and malfunction response drill using the ‘Elevator Smart Control Platform’ at KINTEX Exhibition Hall 2 on the 7th.
This drill was promoted to enhance initial response capabilities through rapid rescue in the event of elevator accidents and malfunctions, and to minimize human casualties, as the risk of elevator accidents has recently increased.
The drill was jointly conducted with the participation of Goyang Special City, Korea Elevator Safety Agency, Ilsan Fire Station, Ilsan Western Police Station, and elevator maintenance companies in Goyang City. About 100 elevator management entities, including apartment elevator managers, observed the drill, which simulated actual elevator malfunctions and crime situations, and practiced passenger rescue procedures. Additionally, safety education for children was conducted using a mobile safety experience vehicle.
After the drill, an appreciation plaque and certificate were awarded to the Korea Elevator Safety Agency Goyang-Paju Branch and elevator maintenance companies for their efforts in elevator safety in the city.
During the drill, a situation was first simulated where an elevator stopped while in operation, trapping passengers inside. After a passenger reported the emergency via an emergency call, the initial response by the elevator safety manager, the dispatch of the 119 rescue team to the scene, and the rescue activities were carried out.
Secondly, a crime situation occurring inside the elevator was assumed. The IoT safety device installed inside the elevator automatically detected and reported the emergency, enabling the rapid rescue of users.
The ‘Elevator Smart Control Platform’ is a system that uses IoT technology to automatically detect and transmit safety accidents such as passenger collapse, assault, and entrapment inside the elevator, drastically reducing accident response time. It was installed at KINTEX Exhibition Hall 2 in 2023 and has proven its safety management effectiveness.
