Prosecutors Decline to Indict Jin Sun-mi, Democratic Party Lawmaker, on Election Law Violation Charges
Non-Prosecution Disposition as 'No Suspicion'
Stock Ownership, Allegations of Conflict of Interest
Jin Sun-mi, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea who was accused of violating the Public Official Election Act, has been cleared of charges.
The Seoul Eastern District Prosecutors' Office announced on the 8th that Jin, who was accused of violating the Public Official Election Act after denying allegations of holding stocks related to her standing committee raised by an opposing candidate ahead of the 22nd general election, was not prosecuted due to 'lack of evidence.'
Earlier, at a debate held just before the April 10 general election, Jeon Ju-hye, a former member of the People Power Party and candidate at the time, alleged that Jin illegally held stocks in unlisted companies related to her duties, such as Nepkos, a defense industry supplier, while serving as a member of the National Assembly's Special Committee on Budget and Accounts from 2016 to 2019, raising concerns about a conflict of interest.
