Active Police Officer Suspended for Accepting Bribes at Gangnam Entertainment Venue
Prosecutors Conduct Search and Seizure in Gangnam
Placed on Leave in June for Personal Reasons
An active-duty police officer was suspended from duty on charges of accepting bribes at an entertainment establishment in Gangnam, Seoul.
On the 8th, the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul announced that Officer A, in his 50s, was suspended from duty on the 4th on charges including bribery.
Officer A is accused of accepting bribes from an entertainment establishment official while in charge of vice-related duties at the Crime Prevention and Order Response Division (formerly the Public Order Division) of the Gangnam Police Station from 2022 until last year.
Officer A transferred to an investigative department this year and was reportedly placed on standby leave in June due to personal reasons.

The Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office, which is investigating the case, conducted a search and seizure of the Gangnam Police Station’s Investigation Division, to which Officer A belongs. Additionally, to secure further evidence of bribery in previous departments, the Crime Prevention and Order Response Division of the Gangnam Police Station was also searched and seized on the 4th.
