Dongmyung University Department of Emergency Medical Technology Provides Medical Support at APP World Tour Busan SUP Open
The Department of Emergency Medical Technology at Tongmyong University provided medical support for the safety of athletes at the ‘2024 APP World Tour Busan SUP Open’ held at Gwangalli Beach on the 5th and 6th.
The emergency response team, consisting of professors and students from the department, promptly responded to both minor and major injuries during the event, delivering emergency first aid. The carefully prepared emergency team ensured that their activities did not interfere with the competition, earning positive feedback from participants.
A first-year student from the Department of Emergency Medical Technology shared, “It was my first time providing medical support at such a large international event, so I was nervous. However, I felt proud to be able to respond quickly in real emergency situations just as I learned at school. I will continue to gain more practical experience to further develop my skills as an emergency medical technician.”
Kim Sungjoo, head of the Department of Emergency Medical Technology at Tongmyong University, stated, “It is very meaningful for students to gain hands-on experience in emergency care and to participate in medical support activities at a large-scale international event. I hope this experience will provide valuable learning and opportunities for growth.”
This competition is an international event where paddleboard racers from around the world compete, and it was held to promote Busan’s marine sports on a global stage.
Park Sanghyun, President of APP, expressed his gratitude to the students, saying, “It is a source of pride to see world-class SUP racers gather in Busan and showcase their skills. The support from the on-site medical team of Tongmyong University’s Department of Emergency Medical Technology greatly contributed to the successful hosting of the event.”
