Professor Hwang Cheol-sung Presents Semiconductor Future
The Korea Economic Association announced on the 7th that it will hold a special discussion titled "Korea's Tasks for Regaining Semiconductor Hegemony" at 2 p.m. on the 14th at the FKI Tower Conference Center, inviting former Ministers of Trade, Industry and Energy.
This discussion is organized to deliberate strategies and policy measures to maintain Korea's semiconductor industry hegemony amid intensifying global competition for semiconductor dominance.
Former Ministers of Trade, Industry and Energy including Lee Yun-ho, Yoon Sang-jik, Sung Yun-mo, and Lee Chang-yang will participate as discussants, and former Minister of Science and ICT Lee Jong-ho, a semiconductor expert, will also join as a special invitee.
Based on their experience and know-how during their terms, they are expected to provide in-depth insights on issues such as subsidy policies, power supply, and materials, parts, and equipment infrastructure.

View original imagePrior to the discussion, Hwang Cheol-seong, a distinguished professor at Seoul National University’s Department of Materials Science and Engineering and Korea’s top authority in the semiconductor field, will give a presentation titled "The Future and Strategy of Korea’s Semiconductor Industry." Professor Hwang is a world-renowned scholar in memory devices and semiconductor materials and processes research.
The Korea Economic Association stated, "This special discussion was planned to prepare for the future of the semiconductor industry, which has driven Korea’s economy and export market."
