Busan Transportation Corporation's Automated Cash Receipt Issuance System Selected as an Excellent Case in the Government Innovation Grand Championship
Selected 15 Cases Out of 233, Only Local Public Institution
First Introduced to Public Transportation in June, 11,944 Cases as of September
Busan Transportation Corporation (President Lee Byungjin) announced on the 7th that the 'Automated Cash Receipt Issuance System for Transit Tickets,' which was introduced for the first time in public transportation by the corporation last June, was selected as an exemplary case in the '2024 Government Innovation King of Kings Contest - Government Solving Problems' organized by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety. It was the only local public institution to be so recognized.
The 'Government Innovation King of Kings Contest' is a competition organized by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety to discover and spread outstanding innovation cases from central government, local governments, and public institutions. Outstanding cases are selected in three categories: ▲Government Preparing for the Future ▲Government Solving Problems ▲Government Working Digitally. The final King of Kings will be chosen in November.
In the second category, 'Government Solving Problems,' a total of 233 cases were submitted by central government, local governments, and public institutions. After the first round of expert evaluation and a second round of online public review, 15 exemplary cases were selected.
The corporation was chosen as an exemplary case for resolving livelihood issues and addressing administrative blind spots by developing and introducing the automated cash receipt issuance system for transit tickets for the first time in public transportation, proactively providing citizens with approximately 5.3 billion KRW in annual income tax deduction benefits. Among local public institutions nationwide, the corporation was the only one selected.
Previously, customers who purchased single-use transit tickets had to visit the station operation office separately to receive a cash receipt. With the development of this system, customers can now enter their mobile phone number directly when purchasing a ticket to receive a cash receipt. As of September, the number of cash receipts issued reached 11,944, about 1,000 times more than the 12 issued in the same month last year.
The corporation also received the top prize in the proactive administration category at the '2024 Proactive Administration and Public Service Culture Innovation Short-form Contest' organized by the Ministry of Personnel Management, by producing a short-form video featuring the automated cash receipt issuance system and the method for purchasing Busan Urban Railway mobile tickets.
