Through this agreement, the Tourism Organization and the seven companies will launch the "Essential Korean Tourism Apps Alliance." This agreement was promoted to reflect the shift toward individual travel and the normalization of mobile platform usage, aiming to improve the convenience of tourism for foreigners visiting Korea.
The Tourism Organization and its partners will conduct integrated marketing by gathering essential travel services such as maps supporting foreign languages and interpretation, as well as applications available to foreigners for shopping and payment, all in one place. Furthermore, they plan to discover content and strengthen cooperation for product development linked to the Tourism Organization's projects.
Both parties intend to promote integrated marketing by consolidating essential travel services like foreign language-supported maps and interpretation, along with applications for shopping and payment accessible to foreigners. Additionally, they will collaborate to discover content and develop products in connection with the Tourism Organization's initiatives.
Starting from the 1st of next month and lasting for one month, the Tourism Organization plans to create a special page on the integrated Korean tourism platform "VISIT KOREA," themed "Apps You Must Use When Traveling in Korea," to introduce each application.
Kim Dong-il, Head of the Tourism Industry Division at the Korea Tourism Organization, stated, "As the proportion of individual travel increases, the usage rates of native Korean apps like Naver Map and Papago during trips to Korea approach 56% and 48%, respectively. The Tourism Organization will continuously discover essential apps for Korean travel starting with this business agreement to contribute to enhancing the satisfaction of foreigners visiting Korea."
