Jinju City Mobilizes All Efforts for Influenza and COVID-19 Vaccinations
Expanded Support for Seniors to Be Implemented Sequentially Starting on the 11th
Jinju City, Gyeongnam will provide free vaccinations for respiratory infectious diseases (influenza and COVID-19) to seniors, starting from the 11th, in a phased manner according to the target group and age bracket.
To ensure the safe vaccination of seniors aged 65 and above, the city will begin vaccinations on separate dates by age group: those aged 75 and older from October 11, those aged 70 to 74 from October 15, and those aged 65 to 69 from October 18.
Jinju City has expanded the eligible recipients for free influenza vaccination to include adults aged 60 to 64 who are registered residents of Jinju, recipients of the National Basic Livelihood Security Program, persons with disabilities, and national merit recipients (themselves), all of whom can receive free influenza vaccinations from October 18.
For COVID-19 vaccinations, individuals with weakened immune systems aged six months and older, as well as residents and inpatients of high-risk facilities, are also eligible for free vaccinations, which will be available starting October 11.
Free influenza and COVID-19 vaccinations can be received at designated local hospitals and clinics. Information on eligible medical institutions can be found on the Jinju City Public Health Center website and the Immunization Helper website. When visiting a vaccination site, recipients must bring identification and supporting documents for eligibility verification.
A Jinju City official stated, "Because the viruses that cause influenza and COVID-19 change every year, annual vaccination is recommended. We also advise influenza and COVID-19 vaccinations to reduce the severity of these infectious diseases." The official added, "The COVID-19 vaccination will use the new JN.1 vaccine, which is effective against recent variants, and simultaneous vaccination with influenza is also possible."
