Gwangjin-gu Junggok 3-dong Youth Reading Room Renovation Completed
Full-scale Operation Begins After Remodeling into Study Cafe-style Reading Room
196㎡ Space with 32 Seats for Youth Complex Culture and Relaxation
Operating Hours 10 AM to 10 PM... Closed on First and Third Mondays and Public Holidays
Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) has remodeled the Junggok 3-dong Youth Reading Room, a complex cultural and resting space for local youth, and has begun its full-scale operation.
The Junggok 3-dong Youth Reading Room is located at 458 Dongil-ro and has an area of 196㎡. Along with the reading rooms in Guui 2-dong and Jayang 4-dong, it serves as a learning space for local youth. However, since it opened in 1994, over 30 years ago, there have been many inconveniences such as leaks, heating and cooling issues, lighting facilities, and outdated equipment.
Accordingly, the district invested 75 million KRW and started remodeling the reading room into a study cafe-style space preferred by youth from August. The seating consists of a total of 32 seats, arranged diversely with 8 storage-type seats, 20 open-type seats, and 4 wall-type seats.
LED lighting was installed on the ceiling, and stand-type lamps were added at each seat to reduce eye strain. The storage room, which had accumulated equipment, was transformed into a group activity space with large desks and chairs for meetings or gatherings.
The reading room operates from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., and is closed on the first and third Mondays of each month, as well as on legal holidays and traditional holidays. The usage fee is 300 KRW per day, and it is available not only to youth but also to local residents.
