Busan City Selects Distinguished Contributors to Science and Technology for Contributions to Secondary Battery R&D and Professional Training
Dong-A University (President Lee Haewoo) announced on the 30th that Professor Kim Jeomsu from the Department of Chemical Engineering has been selected as a '2024 Busan Science and Technology Contributor' and received a commendation from the Mayor of Busan.
Professor Kim was recognized for his outstanding achievements in the field of secondary batteries, contributing to the development of national strategic industries through research and development activities and the cultivation and production of excellent talent.
In particular, he contributed to building the foundation of the secondary battery industry in the Busan region by establishing roadmaps, promoting key new projects under the Busan Science and Technology Innovation Plan 2025, and fostering new industries and building a science and technology-based city in the region.
The 'Specialized Talent Development Project Group for Core Materials of Secondary Batteries in Medium-sized Enterprises' at Dong-A University, led by Professor Kim, was awarded the 'Best Performance Award' in the specialized program for medium-sized enterprises at the '2024 Energy Innovation Talent Forum' Energy Talent Development Performance Exchange.
Professor Kim said, "I am grateful and humbled to receive such an honorable commendation compared to what I have done. The city of Busan is implementing various policies to designate and foster secondary batteries as a future new industry, and I hope to contribute my modest abilities to these efforts. As Dong-A University has been selected as a 'Glocal University' by the government with a strategy to specialize in future energy fields, I will work even harder to establish a secondary battery industry ecosystem specialized for the region, contribute to the development of the local economy, and help create quality jobs."
