This project involved an investment of approximately 830 billion KRW to establish facilities including power conversion systems (PCS) with a capacity of 978 megawatts (MW) and batteries with 889 watt-hours (Wh). A total of 14 companies participated, including Hyosung Heavy Industries, LS Electric, HD Hyundai Electric, Samsung SDI, and LG Energy Solution.
The completion ceremony was attended by about 150 government, local government, and private sector officials, including Seo Cheolsu, KEPCO Vice President of Power Systems, Lee Hohyun, Director of Energy Policy at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, Ryu Myeonghyeon, Director of Industry at Gyeongsangnam-do, and Ahn Byunggu, Mayor of Miryang.
The ESS for grid stabilization is intended to alleviate generation constraints caused by delays in power grid construction (up to 1GW) and will be used for frequency regulation once the power grid construction is completed in the future.
